The demand for fast, convenient, safe and
comfortable rail transport services has always been a challenge to the whole
railway industry including parties responsible for project planning and
implementation, design and manufacturing of systems and equipment, and operation
of railways. While we enter the Information Age, the customers' expectation
is further raised under the situation of apparently barrier-free information
flow. Thanks to the advancement in electronics and communications technologies,
the evolution and application of enhanced engineering and management systems
is also accelerated to meet the growing challenges.
The objective of ICRE 2008 is to provide
a forum for sharing knowledge and experience; promoting collaboration among
practitioners; as well as revealing recent development and applications
of new technologies in railway engineering.
為促進製造商、學者及鐵路專家的交流合作，探討鐵路工程最新發展，由工程及科技學會香港分會，鐵路信號工程師學會香港分會及中國香港鐵路學會合辦的「國際鐵路工程會議-ICRE2008」將於二○○八年三月二十五日至二十八日一連三天在香港舉行。
是次會議以「在資訊世紀中鐵路工程之挑戰」為主題，為本地及來自世界各國的鐵路工程師、科學家及其他鐵路工程專業人士提供一個技術及信息交流平台，藉此發表他們的研究成果及獲取最新的鐵路工程技術。
